Nikon Unified system in the i-TURTLE SMART

2019.01.26
Only the newer Nikon camera models work with the new i-TURTLE SMART family

The market is evolving every minute and we would like to follow that.

A few years ago we used analog camera systems underwater, as the then-popular Nikon F100 in Subal housing with Ikelite strobes. Later they introduced digital cameras and everyone changed their underwater setups. The photographers still used Nikon and Canon camera models but they chose the digital strobes like Ikelite DS 125 to use in TTL mode. It was capable of communicating with the camera, using preflash and making a good shot via digital communication (i-TTL).

The Nikon's latest development is a new system which they call Unified flash system. This is the best solution for the underwater photographers as it allows switching the mode from TTL to Manual and set the strobe power level in the camera menu.

We implemented this new control system in the i-TURTLE SMART TTL trigger unit. But this system does not work with the older camera models. The i-TURTLE SMART works with these Nikon camera models (latest camera firmware version required!):

D5, D4s, D4, D850, D810, D810A, D800, D750, D700, D600, D500, D300, D300s, D7500, D7200, D7100, D7000, D90

In the table below you will find the Unified flash system compatible camera models in the A, B,C,D group.
