Useful Tips About TURTLE Trigger Contact Issues
Camera and Trigger Contact Problems
Sometimes a trigger may not work reliably — it might not fire the strobe or the connection may drop intermittently.
In many cases, this is not an electronic failure, but a contact problem — meaning that one of the connections is not perfect.
Before returning your trigger for service, please check the following points:
Camera Hotshoe Contacts
Especially with Sony systems, the cleanliness of the hotshoe is extremely important!
The Sony Multi Interface Shoe uses very fine pins, which can easily get dirty or slightly oxidized.
We recommend cleaning the contacts carefully with a soft toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol.
Never use metal tools or too much liquid during cleaning!

Connection Between Trigger and Strobe
Check that the LED adapter or optical cable is properly connected.
Make sure the LED window has not moved, and that both cable ends are clean.
Inspect the optical cable — ensure it is not cracked or damaged.
The most common cables today are 613-core multicore optical cables.
If about 10–15% of the fibers are broken, the strobe may still fire, but TTL communication will no longer be accurate.

Also verify that the LED windows on the housing and on the strobe are clean.
They can be easily cleaned using a cotton swab and alcohol.
Battery and Power Connection
A weak or partially discharged battery can also cause unstable operation.
If the trigger does not charge, try cleaning the USB port with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol first.
The USB 2.0 Type-B connector can often get dirty, resulting in poor electrical contact.
We also recommend using the original USB cable supplied with your TURTLE trigger.
There are many cables available on the market, but unfortunately there is large variation in connector dimensions, and a poorly fitting cable can damage or loosen the USB socket.

If the trigger still does not work properly after these checks, we will of course be happy to assist you — but performing these simple steps can help avoid unnecessary shipping and delays.
